baby + me (new parents) group

Parenting was not meant to be done in isolation, yet the beginning of  parenthood can be a very lonely time. Our “baby + me (new parents)” group creates that village you’ve been longing for. We bring together parents with similar aged babies to bond over their shared experiences in a safe, judgment-free space. Our knowledgeable and experienced facilitator supports the discussion and provides research-based information and strategies to help deal with issues that arise. Topics often include: sleep (and functioning when you’re not getting much), feeding, self-care, navigating relationships, as well as exploring this new identity of “parent” and developing coping strategies such as self-compassion. Research has shown that the knowledge, strategies and perspectives in these early months have ripples that reach far into childhood and adolescence. Our goal with these groups is to help you feel less anxious and more confident as you build strong connections that can last a lifetime.

Having a second child is not just twice as hard as having one. It’s at least four times harder because you have a small person actively interfering as you care for your newborn. This new stage in family life can be very isolating and brings a whole host of novel challenges and concerns. It can be really helpful to address these in our “baby + me (again)” group, with a supportive group of parents going through similar experiences. Our experienced facilitator is a certified parent educator (and mother of two) who holds a warm, judgment-free space to discuss such topics as: navigating the new family dynamic, fostering positive sibling relationships, limit-setting, division of responsibility between parents, parental guilt, and finding time for self-care. The support  from this group through this unique and important time can really set the stage for a positive family experience throughout childhood and build ongoing friendships.

What participants are saying….

“Sarah’s group was an absolute game-changer for me. I was finally able to meet other moms and it was so refreshing to know I wasn’t alone. Sarah took the time to really listen to each of us, and facilitated a welcoming and supporting environment. She always made me feel heard, comfortable, and validated. Before going to the group, I felt very burnt out and alone. After meeting Sarah, I felt refreshed and part of a wonderful group of mothers. I would recommend Sarah to any and all mothers!”

“Sarah’s calm presence was everything I needed as a new Mom. She held space for us and genuinely listened to our needs and concerns. Sarah intuitively led our group in very meaningful discussions that allowed us to connect on a very intimate level. I’ll forever hold my first Mommy and Me in the highest regard because of the sacred space Sarah provided.”

“Sarah is an exceptional facilitator for this group. Her energy, countenance and kind demeanor make you feel comfortable. I love that she starts class with a meditation- it allowed me to connect with that part of my life that I had been missing since my baby was born. I looked forward to group every week and it no doubt saved me from postpartum and helped me work through the difficult transition to motherhood. Sarah is such a special woman- I can’t say enough wonderful things about her!”
