Sarah Straton

Sarah Straton is an Olympian, parenting educator and accredited coach who teaches tools for effective communication and enhanced relationships based on the latest in social science and brain research. Sarah has worked with families, schools and sporting organizations since 2011 to help them create optimal environments for growing, learning, performing and relating. She also facilitates toddler and baby groups, supporting parents’ wellbeing and helping them start their family life on a path in alignment with their values.
Prior to her training in parent education and coaching, Sarah earned an honors degree in exercise science and enjoyed a 17-year career as a professional beach volleyball athlete. Her career included competing in the Sydney Olympic Games for her home country of Australia as well as winning on the AVP (US professional) Tour. The combination of elite sports experience, parent education, and coaching give Sarah a unique perspective for supporting coaches and parents in youth sports to create conditions for young people to flourish.
Sarah lives in Los Angeles with her husband, son and daughter, from whom she receives her most profound education.

- Experienced parenting educator and coach, with certification from Echo Parenting & Education (formerly the Center for Nonviolent Education and Parenting)
- Masters degree in Applied Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology from the University of East London- (focus on parenting and parental wellbeing)
- Accredited coach at Senior Practitioner level from the European Mentoring and Coaching Council (EMCC)
- 17 year professional beach volleyball athlete (FIVB, AVP)
- Member of the Australian Olympic Team, 2000
